Biographies and Acknowledgments
Howard Arkley, (1951-1999) lived and worked in Melbourne, Australia. His work was exhibited in the 1998 Sydney Biennale and in the 1999 Venice Biennale. Public collections include the National Gallery of Australia at Canberra; State Galleries in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. He is represented by Karyn Lovegrove Gallery.
John Edgar was born in 1950 in Auckland, New Zealand. He graduated from University of New South Wales in 1972 with a degree in Chemistry and has been exhibiting his stone sculpture since 1977. He has been represented by The Robert McDougall Art Gallery.
Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1947, W.D. (Bill) Hammond graduated from Canterbury University of Fine Arts in 1969 and began painting in 1982. His works have been included in the First Auckland Triennial and in shows at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and City Gallery, Wellington.

Malcolm Jagamarra, born in 1955 in the Australian outback, has had numerous exhibitions and artist's residencies throughout the world. Exhibitions include Throckmorton Gallery, Santa Fe, NM; Stuttgart Gallery, Stuttgart, Germany; Rebecca Hosack Gallery, London, England; Wagner Art Gallery, Hong Kong; and the Nangara Exhibition in Belgium.
Born in 1932 on Napperby Station, Australia, Clifford Possum Japaltjarri was chairman of Papunya Tula Artists for ten years. His work is in the collections of the National Gallery in Canberra and the New South Wales Art Gallery and has been included in shows that traveled throughout the US.
Barney Daniels Jungurrayi, (1954-1998) was born at Haast's Bluff, Australia. His work is included in the collections of the Long Beach Museum (California) and the Malcolm Forbes Gallery, (NYC). He is represented by the Jinta Desert Art Gallery (Sydney) and the Aboriginal Desert Art Gallery (Alice Springs), among others.
Tracey Moffatt's film "Night Cries: A Rural Tragedy" was selected for competition at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. In addition, her work appeared at the 1997 Venice Biennale. Born in 1960 in Brisbane, Australia, she graduated in 1982 from the Queensland College of Art. She is represented by the Paul Morris Gallery, NYC.
Pansy Napangardi, born in 1949 at Haast's Bluff, Australia, won the sixth National Aboriginal Art Award in 1989 and the Northern Territory Art Award in 1993. Her solo exhibition venues include the Sydney Opera House and Gallery Gabrille Pizzi.

The works of Michael Parekowhai, are included in the Chartwell Collection, the Te Papa Museum of New Zealand, and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery (New Plymouth). Born in 1963, he received his BFA from the Elam School of Fine Arts (University of Auckland) in 1990. He is represented by the Gow, Langsford Gallery, Auckland.
The works of Ada Bird Petyarre ( born in 1930 at Atangkere, Australia) are in the collection of the National Gallery of Australia; the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; the Richard Kelton Foundation, Santa Monica, CA, and the University of Queensland, Brisbane.
Born around 1945 in Atnangkere, Australia, Gloria Petyarre represented Utopia Women in 1990 in Ireland, London, and India. Her work is in the collections of National Gallery of Australia, the Museum of Victoria, and the Powerhouse Museum.
Séraphine Pick was awarded the Olivia Spencer Bower Award in 1994. Her solo exhibition venues include the City Gallery in Wellington (1995) and McDougall Art Annex, Christchurch, in 1998. Born in 1964, she received her B.A in 1988 from the University of Canterbury in Kawakawa, New Zealand. Johnny Warrangkula Tjupurrula, (1925-2001) was born at Minjilpirri in Australia. His work is in the collections of the Queensland Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Victoria, the National Museum of Australia (Canberra), the Alice Springs Law Courts, and the Flinders University Art Museum, among others.
